Comcast agreed to a $117.5 million settlement following a late 2023 cybersecurity incident. The data breach exposed the personal information of approximately 36 million Xfinity customers.
Compromised data included usernames, hashed passwords, names, contact information, and birthdates. Some records also contained the last four digits of Social Security numbers.
The settlement resolves the class-action lawsuit Hasson v. Comcast Cable Communications LLC. Plaintiffs alleged the company was responsible for damages and time spent on identity theft protection.
Affected customers should have received notifications around December 18, 2023. Eligible individuals may now file a claim for a portion of the settlement fund.
