Comcast’s NBCUniversal confirmed plans for the Universal United Kingdom Resort in Bedfordshire, England. This project marks the company’s first theme park in Europe. Comcast will invest over £5 billion ($6.7 billion) for the initial construction phase. The company plans an additional £1 billion in spending during the first decade of operation.

The resort is scheduled to open in 2031. The UK government will provide £1.3 billion for infrastructure and transport improvements. The development will create 20,000 construction jobs and 8,000 permanent roles.

The project is projected to generate nearly £50 billion in economic benefit by 2055. Comcast shares remained largely flat following the announcement.
