Berkshire Hathaway agreed to acquire homebuilder Taylor Morrison in an all-cash transaction. The deal carries an equity value of approximately $6.8 billion. The total enterprise value reaches $8.5 billion. Berkshire will pay $72.50 per share, representing a 24% premium over the May 29, 2026, closing price.
The acquisition marks one of the first major deals under CEO Greg Abel. Abel recently succeeded founder Warren Buffett at the helm. This move expands Berkshire’s housing footprint alongside existing holdings like Clayton Homes and various building product companies.
The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2026. Taylor Morrison will then become a privately held company. The current management team will continue to lead the firm.
