Berkshire Hathaway reported a 34% year-over-year increase in third-quarter operating earnings. Earnings reached $13.49 billion, largely driven by a rebound in insurance underwriting.

The insurance division posted $2.37 billion in underwriting income. That was more than 200% higher than in the same period last year. It was the segment’s strongest underwriting quarter in years, easing concerns after weaker results in the first half of 2026, when auto insurer GEICO’s profits fell.

Berkshire’s cash pile grew to a record $381.6 billion.
