The Dutch government is lobbying the U.S. to block expanded export controls on ASML Holding NV. Dutch Trade Minister Sjoerd Sjoerdsma met with U.S. officials to oppose the proposed MATCH Act.

The MATCH Act would ban Chinese chipmakers from purchasing all ASML deep ultraviolet (DUV) immersion lithography machines. This legislation broadens existing restrictions on advanced EUV and specific DUV systems.

The Netherlands opposes the bill due to its extraterritorial nature and infringement on sovereign trade policies. China remains a critical market for ASML. The firm currently ranks as Europe’s most valuable technology company.

China accounted for 19% of ASML’s net system sales. The company recorded this revenue share during the first quarter of 2026.
