Amazon plans to hire more than 300,000 seasonal workers across the United States for the upcoming holiday season. That is up from the 250,000 workers it hired the previous year.
Starting pay for the full-time and part-time positions will be $20 an hour. No prior experience is required.
The hiring is intended to meet an anticipated surge in online shopping and support timely order fulfillment and delivery during the peak holiday period. The plans come as other retailers are reportedly more cautious about seasonal hiring, suggesting Amazon is forecasting strong holiday sales.
