Qantas postponed the launch of Project Sunrise nonstop flights from Australia’s east coast to London and New York. Airbus announced further delivery delays for the specially modified A350-1000 aircraft required for these routes.
The first aircraft delivery moved from late 2026 to April 2027. Commercial flights will now commence later in 2027.
Airbus attributed the setback to persistent supply chain disruptions. These issues specifically impact aircraft interior components and fuselage assemblies from a key production facility.
