Adyen N.V. joined 35 other payment service providers for the European Central Bank (ECB) digital euro pilot program. The selection places Adyen alongside major financial institutions including Deutsche Bank and Revolut.
The pilot program is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027. This initiative will last for 12 months.
Testing will focus on person-to-person payments, point-of-sale transactions, and online payments. The project evaluates the real-world application of a central bank digital currency (CBDC).
This selection highlights Adyenβs technological infrastructure and provides a potential first-mover advantage in the European payments landscape.
