On October 7, 2026, AbbVie announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted two Breakthrough Therapy Designations (BTDs) to its investigational cancer treatment, telisotuzumab adizutecan (Temab-A). [3, 4, 5] The designations cover treatment of certain patients with advanced colorectal cancer and non-small cell lung cancer, areas with significant unmet medical needs. [2, 5]
The designations mark a regulatory milestone for AbbVie’s next-generation antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) and oncology portfolio. [5, 31] The BTD process is designed to expedite development and review of drugs for serious conditions when preliminary clinical evidence indicates substantial improvement over available therapies. Following the announcement, AbbVie’s stock reached a new 52-week high, also supported by a price target increase from Scotiabank. [8, 18]
