AbbVie has halted clinical development of livmoniplimab (ABBV-151), a monoclonal antibody being evaluated for several solid tumors. The company concluded that the drug’s potential benefits were limited compared with current standards of care for patients with cancers including lung and colorectal cancer.
The decision affects multiple studies, including a phase 2/3 trial in non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer that was comparing livmoniplimab with Merck & Co.’s Keytruda.
AbbVie said it was disappointed by the decision but reaffirmed its commitment to developing treatments for difficult-to-treat solid tumors across its broader pipeline.
