Apple has announced an updated Mac Studio desktop powered by its M5 Max and the new M5 Ultra chips. The company is emphasizing a significant leap in on-device artificial intelligence capabilities, claiming the new models offer up to 4.3 times faster AI performance than their predecessors.
The high-end Mac Studio with the M5 Ultra can be configured with up to 512GB of unified memory, a feature aimed at intensive professional and AI development workloads. The new machines also feature upgraded graphics, Wi-Fi 7, and Thunderbolt 5 support. The M5 Max model starts at $2,499, with pre-orders beginning immediately for a September 22 release.
