Apple faces a £2 billion legal claim at the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal over its App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. Former Competition and Markets Authority official Ann Pope filed the lawsuit on behalf of British app developers.
The claim alleges that Apple unfairly benefits its own advertising business through asymmetrical privacy rules. Developers argue they must obtain explicit user consent for tracking while Apple’s internal services remain exempt.
The lawsuit seeks compensation for financial losses caused by this alleged double standard. Apple maintains that the ATT framework provides essential privacy protections and declined to comment on the specific litigation.
