Samsung Electronics will supply Nvidia with custom high-bandwidth memory known as NVHBM. The company is developing a specialized 8-high HBM4E product tailored to Nvidia's specific requirements.
This strategic shift prioritizes memory speed over the total number of layers. Nvidia targets speeds of 17 to 18 Gbps for the new components. These specifications are approximately 20% faster than Samsung's initial samples.
Nvidia will integrate this advanced memory into its Rubin Ultra AI GPU, which is expected to launch next year. Samsung’s ability to provide a complete solution combining DRAM and logic chip capabilities served as a key competitive advantage.
