Samsung Electronics joined a funding round as a strategic partner for Anthropic, the developer of the Claude AI model.
The investment fuels expectations that Samsung’s foundry division will manufacture Anthropic’s future custom AI accelerator chips. Anthropic identified its partners as critical suppliers for memory, storage, and logic chips.
Samsung is the only new partner that operates a logic chip foundry. This potential manufacturing agreement could reach a value of $20 billion.
The deal would significantly boost Samsung’s non-memory business as it competes against industry leader TSMC.
