Samsung Electronics and Broadcom announced the world’s first integrated Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) platform combining 5G and Wi-Fi 8 technologies. This reference platform enables mobile operators to deliver fiber-level broadband to homes and businesses cost-effectively.
The system integrates Samsung’s B1320 5G modem with Broadcom’s BCM6776 Wi-Fi 8 System-on-Chip (SoC). The hardware unifies 3GPP Release 17 5G connectivity with the emerging Wi-Fi 8 standard to ensure consistent throughput.
The partnership aims to accelerate service innovation and expand the ecosystem for advanced FWA deployments. Global carrier trials and equipment manufacturer sampling are currently underway.
