BYD sold 383,453 new energy vehicles in May 2026. This 0.26% year-over-year increase ended an eight-month streak of sales declines. Monthly volume rose 19.4% compared to April.
Record international performance drove the turnaround. Overseas sales surged 80.4% year-over-year to 160,644 units. International markets now represent more than 41% of total monthly sales.
Domestic demand remains weak as Chinese sales fell approximately 24% year-over-year. Cumulative sales for the first five months of 2026 are down 20.3% compared to the same period in 2025.
