SK hynix’s U.S. subsidiary, Solidigm, is reportedly considering the Marcy Nanocenter in upstate New York for its first U.S. NAND flash memory manufacturing plant.
Reports put the potential investment at as much as 130 trillion won. Some reports say the project could begin with an investment of $45 billion. They suggest it could grow to $100 billion over the long term.
The project comes amid rising memory-chip demand from the AI industry and U.S. government efforts to expand domestic semiconductor production.
The potential investment is also reportedly linked to SK hynix seeking U.S. approval to export certain semiconductor manufacturing equipment to its existing facility in Dalian, China. Revenue from the upgraded China plant would help finance the new U.S. factory.
In an SEC filing, SK hynix said it was exploring options to expand production capacity but had made no final decision on a U.S. plant. The filing was made in late October 2026.
